Sugar(s) in Babamix: what you need to know
Eline SabbeShare
Sugar is a hot topic when it comes to nutrition, and rightly so! Parents in particular are increasingly paying attention to how much and what kind of sugars their children consume. At Babamix we want to be transparent about this: our mixes do not contain added sugars, but they do contain naturally occurring sugars from the ingredients. How does that work exactly?
Where do the sugars in Babamix come from?
Our Babamix contains natural sugars, also known as fructose. This is a sugar that occurs naturally in fruits and vegetables, and which you can find in our mixes via ingredients such as date powder, carrot powder and beetroot powder.
Comparison with other products
- Finished Baba pancakes or waffles contain 6.8 g of natural sugar (fructose) per 100 g
- A banana contains 18 g of sugar per 100 g
- An apple contains 12 g of sugar per 100 g
As you can see, our products contain less sugar than a banana or apple. This means that your child can enjoy a sweet taste, but without excessive sugar intake.
Conclusion
At Baba Bites we believe in pure and natural. The sweetness in our mixes comes directly from the ingredients themselves – with no hidden added sugars. This way we ensure a balanced, nutritious and tasty option for children and their parents.
